Match report
This game ended in a tame draw after the seasiders were set 280 to win in a time slot which allowed just 37 overs. Stuart Morris and Brian Edwards cashed in on the tame pitch at Ockendon Recreation Ground with 66 and 60 runs respectively while James Banner, 46, and Jim Robertson, 47, offered solid support. Visiting spin bowler Nigel Green topped the Southend attack with 3-76 from fifteen overs (one maiden). After the break, opener Craig Porter remained undefeated on 49, James Gilroy was bowled by Jack Plane (3-19) for 44 while Martin Hill played out time with a steady 30 not out. Cliff Cansdale picked up the remaining two wickets to fall, 2-32 from nine overs (two maidens). Southend finished as division runners-up, while Belhus finished in fifth place. Meanwhile, the Belhus fourth team finished fourth in their respective devision following a ten-wicket win over Upminster sixth eleven at Campion School, thanks to a 5-10 haul from medium-pacer Scott Stonham.
