Belhus equalled their highest winning total when batting second in this Shepherd Neame Essex League fixture. In an extraordinary match on a good surface at Ockendon Recreation Ground, Pegasus and Corringham were invited to take first knock and three of their batsmen, Cain, Walker and Hubbard all reached the half-century mark. Cain went on to score 85, Walker hit 61 and Hubbard scored 79 to put the visitors firmly on the front foot.

But in reply, Michael Cansdale smashed eleven sixes in a match-winning innings of 128 not out, also a personal best score. Tom Thompson gave valuable support with 63 runs, who with Jim Robertson (37) gave Belhus a solid opening partnership of 80 before Robertson had to leave the field after being struck in the face by a full toss. This brought Cansdale to the crease and his stunning innings played the key part in this performance which matched that of the Belhus first eleven in 2009, when 279 was also attained in the second innings of a match to defeat Southend-on-Sea.
