Sixteen-year-old Ryan Wells became only the ninth batsman in the illustrious history of Belhus Cricket Club to attain a score in excess of 150 when he majestically struck a commanding 151 not out in the Shepherd League Essex League at North Stifford on 1st September. The young Belhus opener produced some excellent stroke-play combined with superb placement which left the Orsett fielders chasing leather throughout much of the afternoon. Wells even brought up his 150 with a Dilshan-style boundary shot into a vacant area at fine leg. But on a pitch which was arguably flatter than some of our country's roads, Belhus struggled to take wickets that they badly needed and the game meandered to an inevitable draw. Roy Heffernan offered Wells some support with 55 while in the post-tea session, Cliff Cansdale picked up four wickets for the home side
