Westcliff's Peter Barnes scored a magnificent 132 at Chalkwell Park on Saturday but Belhus held their nerve in the field as the home side fell just three runs short of victory in an enthralling match. Barnes struck two sixes and 17 fours from 153 balls in 174 minutes at the crease.

But earlier, Belhus themselves had made good progress through Joe Joyce with 88 and Gavin Jefferies with 54. Connor Day was the pick of the visiting attack, with four wickets at a cost of 50 runs.
