Leigh on Sea held the upper hand throughout most of this encounter at Chalkwell Park on Saturday as Simon Burch and James Pettitt put on 148 for the fourth wicket. Burch hit a fine century - 108 to be precise - while Pettitt fell just six runs short of the three-figure mark. For Belhus, Connor Day picked up 3-78 from ten overs while Jamie Riley, Martin Guilbert and Billy Winter picked up one wicket each.

After the home declaration, Joe Joyce hit 58 and Richard Day reached 40 until Andrew Villani made inroads with 5-47 from 15 overs which included five maidens. With eight wickets down, Owen Jefferies was dismissed from the last ball of the innings as both teams had to settle for a draw. The second eleven match between these two teams also ended in stalemate. Belhus, batting first, recovered to post 231 as Danny Norris struck a superb 110 runs. This was his third century and his first in a senior league match. Norris put on 171 with Mathew Lewis senior, who reached 70 runs. This partnership set a new Belhus second eleven partnership record for the fifth wicket.
