Brothers Joe and Danny Joyce proved to be the mainstays of a solid Belhus batting display at North Stifford on Saturday, only for Harold Wood to waltz past the Belhus score a few hours later. Joe hit nine fours and one six from 93 balls in his innings of 79, while older brother Danny scored 58 from 80 deliveries, hitting two fours in a patient innings. The siblings shared a 123-run stand for the third wicket, which was finally broken when Joe was trapped leg before by Shahbaz Khan (2-54).

In the Wood reply, Phil Clark and Colin Sher shared a second wicket stand of 88 to open up the road to victory. Clark hit eight boundaries from 135 deliveries in a fine knock of 78 while Sher was eventually caught to end the partnership having scored exactly 50 by wicketkeeper Michael Fogg off the bowling of Owen Jefferies (2-40). Raihan Hussain and Craig Sampson finished the job for the visitors with undefeated knocks of 30 and 10 respectively.

Earlier, Belhus openers Gavin Jefferies and Wayne Read had put on 52 for the wicket with Jefferies hitting 24 and Read making 21. In the middle order, Fogg hit eleven runs and Richard Day contributed 12 runs. For Harold Wood, Khan found valuable support from bowlers Shahzad Hafeez, Ross Ellis and Billy Mortimer, who took one wicket each.
