Rankins qualified for the county stages of the Essex Bradford Cup after a comfortable win at North Stifford on Sunday morning. Davis and Patel both finished on 33 not out for the visitors, having to retire under competition rules when 30 runs have been attained. Davis hit no fewer than seven boundaries, while left-hander Patel hit five fours and two sixes. The two Rankins wickets were claimed by Ali Mirza (1-14) when he trapped Joshua Pipe leg before for just six runs, while George Maidment (1-9) had Chris Guy caught by Alfie Debono at cover for 17 runs. The Belhus batting showed considerable improvement from their first outing in the previous week, with Mark Fogg hitting an impressive 27 which included five boundaries.
