Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 5th XI v Old Southendian & Southchurch 5th XI on Sat 23 Jul 2011 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 9 Runs
Match report
Being asked to bat, Belhus soon found themselves at 10 for 2. But a dogged partnershp of 57 between Ryan Prendergast (29) and Jack Day (36) rescued the position. After Day's departure, Prendergast added a further 31 runs with Under 15 youngster Toby Reynolds, and at 98 for 3 the position looked promising. However Sayers (4-49) and Fullford (3-19) had other ideas. The homeside's innings closing on a disappointing 134 off 48 Overs.
The visitors despite losing an early wicket, raced to 85 for 2 and the result was looking obvious. The removal of Fraser for 23 and Bambury 24 changed the game dramatically and OS&S were reduced to 107 for 9 Skipper Ruck (4-22), well assisted by 14 year old Jack Martin-Hussey (2-22) and Elliott Playle (2-17). A quickfire 15 from Sayers looked for a while would see the visitors home before skying a catch to Martin-Hussey.
Our apologies for an incomplete scorecard.
