Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Hornchurch 4th XI on Sat 06 Aug 2011 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 4 Wickets
Match report
Belhus 3rd 248-5
Hornchurch 4th 252-6
The were runs galore on an easy-paced surface at South Ockendon Recreation ground on Saturday. The home side were able to declare after 50 overs as Ben Marns hit a stylish 76, Lee Webber looked largely untroubled during his knock of 42, while Jake Wolfe and Scott Bayford remained undefeated with 40 and 30 runs respectively when Belhus called a halt to their use of the willow.
The Hornchurch reply started steadily if unspectacularly. But then the visitors launched a savage attack on most of the Belhus bowlers, which paid off handsomely. Willison struck a fine 73 until he was trapped leg before by captain Paul Whitlock, and Duploy with 39 not out saw Hornchurch home in some style. For Belhus, Cliff Cansdale was the most economical bowler with 2-29 from eight overs (two maidens), while Rob Joyce also took two wickets, at a cost of 79 runs from 15 overs. Bayford joined Whitlock in taking one wicket each.
