Woodford Green v Belhus Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 1pm
Belhus Cricket Club Won by 8 Wickets
Match report
Woodford Green 3rd 117 all out
Belhus 3rd 120-2
The similarity of the three Shepherd Neame Essex league fixtures played between these two clubs continued at third eleven level as veteran workhorse Alan Maidment became the third Belhus bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in damp conditions. Maidment wheeled away in two spells to pick up 5-26 from eleven overs (three maidens) while Cliff Cansdale returned 3-22 from thirteen overs, again with three maidens. David Taylor bowled exceptionally well without reward; Daniel Dreher returned 1-16 from seven overs (one maiden).
Belhus were largely untroubled by the home attack, but the visiting batsmen put their foot on the gas as dark clouds gathered. As it turned out, no rain fell, but Jim Banner faltered in the quest for quick runs after scoring 25, though Jim Robertson remained undefeated on 48 not out while John Forrest clubbed his way to a quick-fire, undefeated 26.
