Belhus have moved into third spot in the Shepherd Neame League division three table and are just six points behind the second place promotion spot, following the destruction of Benfleet at North Stifford on Saturday. The visitors were in all sorts of trouble when they lost their fourth wicket with only nine runs on the board, but then Andrew Scott (37 runs) joined opening batsman Gavin Blowes (46 runs) as these two put on 73 for the fifth wicket. The partnership was finally broken when Scott was caught by Gavin Jefferies off the bowling of younger brother Owen (1-10). Apart from the productive team work of Scott and Blowes, only number eight batsman Emmanuel Parmakellis reached double figures with eleven runs. Belhus paceman Dale Kenyon was clearly on a mission; from 13.4 overs, the Belhus paceman picked up 5-41 from 13.4 overs, three of which were maidens. Connor Day also generated a fair head of steam, claiming 4-35 from ten overs (one maiden), as Benfleet were dismissed relatively cheaply after 34.4 overs.

Belhus captain Wayne Read, who had earlier taken no fewer than four catches at slip, opened the batting with Gavin Jefferies. Read was run out for 36, but Gavin Jefferies remained undefeated at the point when an eight-wicket win was clinched, with brothers Danny and Joe Joyce both contributing 12 runs, the latter being undefeated with Jefferies at the end of the proceedings. For Benfleet, Scott completed a good all-round display by taking 1-19 from four overs.
