Joe Downes of Belhus struck ten boundaries in a magnificent maiden half-century knock of 57 in this 30-overs per side fixture at Spring Farm Park on Bank Holiday Monday. But then Knight responded in kind for the home side with 56, until he was retired by his management. Like Downes before him, Knight also struck ten fours and he found valuable support from opening colleague Gough, who finished undefeated on 32.

Nick Peavot took the sole Rainham wicket to fall, when Amato was stumped by Toby Reynolds without scoring. For the first part of the Rainham innings, Ryan Pitcher kept wicket for Belhus for the first time and did an excellent job, but was called on to bowl as he and Downes bowled in tandem towards the end of the game in an attempt to stem the flow of Rainham runs and make inroads into the home side's batting order. While the flow of runs became a trickle, the wckets did not materialise, as the target was reached with two overs to spare.

This game concludes the Belhus U13B fixtures for the 2010 season, team manager Cliff Cansdale would like to thank all the senior club members and parents who have supported the team in various ways throughout the season. Our next activity will be indoor six a side cricket at Grays School, subject to team manager availability. The more volunteer managers that come forward, the wider our player selections can become.
