Match report Belhus were left to rue letting Orsett off the hook at School Lane on Saturday but ended up hanging on for a second successive draw.

Orsett elected to bat first and were in deep trouble at 50-5 after excellent opening spells from Alan Maidment (3-37) and Rob Long (2-35) but Lee Kooyman got Orsett out of a hole as he made 64 not out. Scott Bayford did take two wickets but Orsett got away and ended on 200-8 from their 52 overs.

Belhus started soundly getting to 20-0 with no alarms before losing openers Robertson and Dopson to Tidman (2-24) both in bizarre circumstances. It was left to Scott Bayford (38) and Brian Edwards to counter attack for Belhus but when Bayford fell to Orsett skipper Morris the Belhus charge lost impetus. Edwards played the important innings for Belhus making a vital 53 not out as they held out for the draw with one wicket remaining, though only just....with Edwards dropped in the penultimate over. Morris bowled tidily taking 5-45.
