Ricki Ellis took a hat-trick and helped himself to career-best figures of 6-26 from a dozen overs in an extraordinary afternoon's cricket on an excellent track at South Ockendon Recreation ground.

Belhus had declared early through their enterprising captain Tom Thompson, with Graham Davidge top-scoring with an aggressive 53. Ellis had earlier removed both Green openers in his first spell, but then returned with a vengeance to take four wickets in six deliveries. This greatly damaged the visitors' victory charge and, requiring two runs to win from the day's finally delivery, they could only scamper a single to backward point where Ben Marns fielded to prevent the winning run from being taken.
