Belhus mercilessly inflicted a 203-run defeat of their near neighbours in this one-sided Essex Sunday League east divison fixture at North Stifford. Both innings started badly, but while Belhus quickly re-built after losing opener Danny Norris in the first over, Thurrock (changed their namne from Grays & Chadwell this season) capitulated from 4-4 to a calamitous 19 for seven. It was Belhus skipper Chris Baker who started the rout by twice taking three wickets in an over to finish with 6-18 from eight overs, one of which was a maiden. Baker's half dozen were claimed in his second and sixth overs, with the Belhus cause being aided by wicketkeeper Michael Fogg's five catches.

In fact, it was Fogg who led the way with the bat earlier in the day with a fine undefeated 57 which included six fours and two sixes, to add to his 90 at Billericay just 24 hours earlier. Joe Joyce hit 52 (eight fours) and with Paul Bennett 21, Mason Wren 13, Billy Winter 14, Brian Edwards 30, Michael Cansdale 27 and Baker himself contributing 13 not out, Belhus were firmly in the driving seat. After tea, only Matthew Hills looked comfortable with 28 not out. Supporting Baker with the ball were Ricki Ellis, claiming 1-6 from seven tight overs (one maiden), Cansdale 1-20 and Owen Jefferies 1-12.
