The Peter Edwards Museum & Library
is the official museum of
Essex CCC
and dedicated to the memory of
Peter Edwards
who was the club's Secretary and General Manager
from 1979 to 2000. It was formally opened in 2006 thanks to
the kind generosity of Sue Edwards, Peter's wife.
Housed at the
The Cloudfm County Ground, New Writtle Street, Chelmsford
(
behind the club shop) it displays a vast and fascinating collection of photographs, books, equipment, clothing and other memorabilia relating to the club
and its players, dating back to the foundation of
Essex CCC
in 1876. It is open on all match days (apart from T20 night matches) until shortly after the tea interval and at other times by prior appointment. Admission is free so please look in to the museum when you next attend a match at Chelmsford.
For a small donation, you may become a
'Friend of the Peter Edwards Museum & Library'
to support its ongoing work
and receive regular newsletters, research papers and invitations to special exhibitions. For further details and an Application Form, please contact the President, Tony Debenham, at tonydebenham42@hotmail.com or 4, Vere Gardens, Henley Road, Ipswich, IP1 4NZ.
