AFTAB MOHAMED STROKES MAIDEN CENTURY IN SUNDAY 1ST XI VICTORY:
In the opening match of the 2026 season at North Stifford, Newham batted first and posted a very respectable total of 246 for 9 from their allotted 40 overs with Muhammad Munawar their top-scorer with an excellent 90. Harvey Stapleton and Evie-Mae Baldwin both captured 3 wickets apiece and Louie Mailey held on to 3 fine catches.
In our run-chase after tea, opener Aftab Mohamed stroked a masterful century (100*) - his maiden ton for the Club having previously notched up 15 half-centuries. Louie Mailey (in his first outing as team captain) supported well with 50 and Callum Owen chipped in with a fine 35 in his first innings for the Club as a comfortable win by 6 wickets was achieved in just 31.4 overs.
And skipper Louie Mailey must have been pleased with his team's performance that hopefully bodes well for the rest of the season.
