BARRY RUCK ELECTED HONORARY LIFE VICE-PRESIDENT:
Joining the Club in 2001, Barry Ruck took no time in volunteering for various roles, accepting the captaincy of our Sunday 2nd XI in 2003 and engulfing himself as Secretary for 9 years between 2004 and 2012. As Treasurer for 13 years from 2O13 to the present day, he has been our longest-serving Treasurer. He has been a Club Trustee since 2004 when we took our first formal lease of North Stifford Village Green and has served as our Play-Cricket Administrator.
A popular Captain of various of our Saturday/Sunday XIs between 2003 and 2023, he willingly stepped in on many occasions whenever captaincy replacement cover was needed.
Appearing in more than 400 matches, he produced career-bests of 106 against Orpington in 2008 and 6 for 17 against South Weald in 2007. He also joined a number of our tours to Norfolk as well as to Barbados in 2018 and was, for sure, an agreeable member of any team in which he played. And he acted as Team Manager for various of our Youth XIs, a job for which he was admirably suited given his enviable levels of patience and understanding.
Barry has made an enormous contribution to the Club over 25 years and members past and present are indebted to him for his selfless devotion and dedication to the well-being of the Club. In possessing a generosity of spirit, he has been a trusted friend to many members and we thank him warmly for his affable companionship and exceptional service to Belhus CC.
We are pleased to announce that Barry has deservedly been elected an Honorary Life Vice-President.
