RYAN WELLS 99* AS 1ST XI WIN:
Old Brentwoods 1st XI 225 all out (Baber Choudhary 73)
Belhus 1st XI 229-3 (Ryan Wells 99* Billy Winter 52*).
In
this fourth Hamro Foundation Essex league match of the season at North
Stifford on 1st June, Old Brentwoods elected to bat first after winning the toss. Of their batters, only Baber Choudhary made any impression with a fine
73, but with Dylan Sinfield, Salman Khan and Louie Mailey capturing 2
wickets apiece and spinner James Webb collecting 4 for 42, we dismissed OBs for a very 'gettable' 225.
In our reply after tea, Salman Khan, Lewis Blake and
Riley Everett were the only batters who managed to reach double figures to take us to 86 for 3, but then
skipper Ryan Wells (99*) and Billy Winter (52*) combined together to
carve a well-controlled 143-runs 4th wicket partnership to steer us home
to a comfortable 7-wickets win.
In falling just 1 short of his
century, Ryan Wells created a Club Record when joining the 'Belhus 99
Club', by being the only member of this distinguished group of 7 to
finish not out. Well
batted Ryan.
And in collecting 20 League points, the 1st XI sit in 4th place in the HFEL Division Two.
