Old Brentwoods batted first in this eighth Hamro Foundation Essex League match of the season and posted an under-par total of 217 all out. Joe Joyce did the damage with the ball in taking 6 for 53 (his second '5for' in successive matches) including his maiden hat trick (all caught). This was just the sixth hat trick for the 1st XI in the Club's 63-year history - the last also against Old Brentwoods by Rikki Ellis in 2010.

In our reply, the 1st XI batters had little difficulty in chasing down the runs in 39.5 overs with Joe leading the pack home with an unbeaten 71 in the 6-wickets win.

After collecting 20 points, skipper Max Osborne's team now sits in fourth place in Division One, just 7 points behind the leaders Epping.

So with a '6for', a hat trick and 71 not out (only the 2nd occasion of such a triple feat in the Club's history) it was a day for Joe to remember.
