Belhus Cricket Club Won by 34 Runs

Match report Batting first on a windy day on a slow, soft pitch at Belhus Park, our batsmen struggled to score and we were in serious trouble at 34 for 6. But then Jim Robertson strode to the crease and proceeded to smash 52 (his maiden fifty) of the next 61 runs to be last man out in our meagre total of 95. Cantonians' bowlers Edwards and Platt bowled 23 overs apiece with Platt taking an impressive 7 for 37.

After tea, Paul Hall made early inroads and Cantonians were looking shaky at 37 for 4. And then Jim Robertson came to the party once again by taking 5 for 11 from just 8 overs to dismiss the 10-man Cantonians side for 61.

Jim, of course, was man-of-the-match for achieving the rare feat of a 'double' - i.e. a fifty and a '5 for' in the same match - although it is not known if he had to buy 2 jugs for his performance(s)!
