Belhus entertained Prague CC from the Czech Republic at North Stifford as the Thurrock club staged the fifth and final match of Prague's 2009 tour of England. Visiting captain Paul Myers struck a fine 101 before unselfishly retiring with twelve boundaries to his name. He put on 109 for the third wicket with Luke Rogers who supported well with a fine 58. For Belhus, Mike Squires was the leading wicket-taker with two wickets, but his eight overs came at an expense of 58 runs. Kevin Harber, Paul Hall, Michael Cansdale and Roy Heffernan took one wicket apiece. After tea, Prague continued to dominate the proceedings with some tight pace bowling, particularly through opening bowler Rohit Deshmoyni who removed Danny Norris, 8, Jim Banner 11, and Kevin Harber 10, to finish with 3-24 from eight overs (one maiden). Belhus continued to be ably led by skipper for the day Heffernan, who rose admirably to the challenge by adding 70 valuable runs from the middle order, giving Belhus a slight chance of victory. However, when Heffernan was finally bowled by Manish Sahijwani for 70 (one six and seven fours) and an act of brilliance from Leo Rawlence at short cover with a one-handed diving catch, the game was up for the home side, despite other contributions from Peter Clark with 27 and Barry Ruck who scored 18 runs.
