Belhus completed their Essex Sunday League east division fixtures for the current season with an eight-wicket reverse at Chalkwell Park. There were some positives for Belhus though, principally involving the top six visiting batsmen who made solid contributions to ensure a strong total. Gavin Jefferies continued his rich vein of form with 41 which included four boundaries, while his opening partner Billy Winter hit ten fours but then fell one short of a deserving half-century. George Brooks hit 17 and Michael Cansdale hit a six and six fours in a knock of 45 while Brian Edwards was undefeated with 18 at the close of the innings. After the break, Deans savaged the Belhus attack, scoring a rapid undefeated 103 until he was bowled by Ricki Ellis, who finished with a creditable 1-23 from 7 overs, which included one maiden. Home opener Rhodes played an anchor role, finishing on 42 not out. Danny Norris took the other Westcliff wicket to fall when he dismissed Watts, who scored 53. Norris finished with 1-34 from six overs.
