Belhus Cricket Club Won By 53 Runs

Match report Belhus again won the toss and elected to bat for the second league game in a row. A wicket was lost in the first over and then runs were hard to come by as Robbins bowled a good length. it was another 19 overs before the second wicket fell but the score was only on 67 and getting to 200 to guarantee 8 points was looking a long way off. A good little innings by Billy Winter in the middle order steadied the ship before Mike Cansdale and Marc Lewis took the score beyond 200 in the 52nd over. Before the innings began a score of 250 looked like it would be needed to win. However after batting on the wicket first it was felt that 205 was a good score as all batsmen found timing the ball to be a little tricky.
And so Belhus opened with the spin of Marc Lewis at one end and Dale Kenyon at the other. Some good ground fielding kept the pressure on the batsmen and once the first wicket fell with the score on 24 other wickets fell after at regular intervals. It was only James Foley that started to look like pushing the Belhus total but was caught by Mark Sansom off the spin of Mike Cansdale for 35. Two more wickets fell with only 3 runs added to take the score to 111 for 7. At this point there were 11 overs left in the Old Parkonians innings. A defeat now was out of the question. With spin at both ends, and attacking fields set, Mike Cansdale took 2 more wickets leaving thescore on 149 for 9 with 6 overs remaining. The two batsmen left were now determined to leave any ball outside the line of the stumps and smothered all that was bowled staight. Scott Bayford was then brought back into the attack to generate some pace and he took the tenth wicket by bowling Buntin with 9 balls of the match left.
