Stanford's top three, Thomas, J. Pearn and Carter all reached the South Essex league's compulsory retirement score of 25 at Stanford Recreation Ground on Sunday. Number six batsman Edwards gave valuable support with 16 not out as the home side posted a respectable total. For Belhus, James Bright had a game he will probably not forget for some time. In an initial two-over spell, he accounted for McCarthy, Brunton and Drum - all bowled - and finished with three wickets for just seven runs from three overs. In addition, Bright also featured in the run out of W. Pearn following a direct hit at the stumps from third man. When Belhus batted, Harry Davison and Mark Fogg both contributed eleven runs each, but Stanford's wicketkeeper cashed in by taking three stumpings (Enright, Skingle and Clarke) plus two catches (Bright and Davison). Edwards finished as Stanford's best bowler with 2-9 from four overs (one maiden), while Carter, McCarthy, Edwards and Drum picked up one wicket each.
