Belhus were sent spinning to defeat at Ashwells Road on Saturday as Sarfaraz Ahmed picked up seven wickets at a cost of just 37 runs from a mammoth 23-over spell, five of which were maidens. However, Belhus opener Gavin Jefferies hit 57 in an innings which included three boundaries, until he became one of Ahmed's victims. Gavin's openeing colleague, Martin Guilbert, gave support with 28, but apart from Billy Winter with 10 runs, no other Belhus batsman made double figures as Belhus slid to a 35-run Shepherd Neame Essex League defeat. The remaining three Belhus wickets were claimed by Muhhamed Asif at a cost of 36 runs from ten overs. Earlier, Akram Shaith top scored for the hosts with 61, until he was trapped leg before wicket by Connor Day (4-54). Dale Kenyon and Winter picked up three wickets each. Belhus captain Wayne Read was complimentary about Ahmed's bowling. He said: "It was his day, he put the ball on the spot all afternoon and turned it both ways in helpful conditions".
