A truly excellent performance with both bat and ball saw Belhus achieve a comprehensive victory at Belfairs Park on Sunday. Despite a challenging total, no Belhus batsman reached a half-century, instead it was a gutsy team performance with no fewer than seven batsmen reaching double figures. Opening batsman Ryan Wells made 27, Mathew Lewis hit 28, while other contributors were captain Chris Baker with 39, Brian Edwards 13, Daniel Dreher 28, Ricki Ellis 26 not out and Mitchell Arthur with 13. For the home side, fifth change bowler Byford was the most productive, his five-over spell yielding three wickets for 37 runs. Brothers Daniel and Matthew Wakeling had senior debuts to remember; Matthew hit the top of Long's off stump to send the number three batsman back to the pavilion for 30, while Daniel clean bowled Eastwood's number four batsman Michaelis, after he had just four runs to his name. Daniel finished with 1-21 from four overs and Matthew, 1-13 from three overs. Dreher then ripped through the middle order with 3-24 from seven overs, which included a diving caught and bowled to remove number five batsman Squires for 21. Cliff Cansdale mopped up the tail with 2-16 from 4.3 overs after accurate throws from Ellis and Dreher contributed to two excellent run-out dismissals
