Match report Belhus can thank their bowlers for this victory but they made hard work of it. Skipper Paul Hall won the toss and took advantage by inserting the home side. Hall himself shared the new ball with Alan Maidment and they both soon had Buckhurst in trouble. Maidment was at his frugal best taking 2-20 from 14 tidy overs including eight maidens. Hall was just as accurate taking 3-46 from 13 pvers. When Owen Jefferies took three wickets in quick time, Buckhust were in serious trouble at 47-7. But tail enders McIntyre (42) and Horton (36) had other ideas and got their side back into the game. It took wily veteran Brian Edwards (2-21) to wrap up the innings as Buckhurst Hill reached 154 all out.

Belhus were soon in trouble losing Dopson (4) and Banner (8) quickly and with Mike Randall retiring hurt after a blow to the head Belhus were wobbling. It took a resolute effort from experienced campaigner Jim Robertson who dug in manfully to make a very important 50 runs from 96 balls. Support was forthcoming from Jefferies (16) Brian Edwards (27) and young wicket keeper Ben Kent (20) as Belhus edged over the line by 3 wickets.
