James Banner struck a patient 63 not out, after he had held on to four catches as stand-in wicketkeeper, to hold a Belhus innings together in the face of a keen Southend attack backed up by some excellent ground fielding. Michael Cansdale scored 46 in this Shepherd Neame League fixture, while Mathew Lewis Snr hit 34 and opener Ben Marns struck 30. Earlier, Southend were dismissed through the efforts of Belhus paceman Connor Day, who claimed 4-53, while Owen Jefferies bagged 3-42. For Southend, Scott Elliott top scored with 46 not out.
