Both teams failed to take advantage of the usual fine batting conditions at North Stifford on Saturday. Belhus were quite happy at tea having dismissed their guests for 120, espcially after Roy Heffernan had hit the stumps at the bowler's end from long-on to dismiss Goresbrook's Andy Levitt. Mike Squires bagged 4-26 from his off-spin to put Belhus in a fine position, only to see his batsmen throw the opportunity away. Roy Heffernan top scored with 22, Mark Winter hit 17, Jack Plane reached 13 and Peter Clark formed a quartet of Belhus batsmen in double figures. However, it wasn't enough as Belhus crashed to a 17-run defeat. Supporting Squires with the ball were Paul Hall, 2-23, Brian Edwards 2-18 and Plane, 1-17.
