Belhus were involved in yet another dramatic finale when they entertained Langdon Hills in a Sunday social fixture at North Stifford. The home side had restricted Langdon Hills to 151, thanks to 3-36 from Cliff Cansdale and 3-11 from guest player Laura Knight of Essex and Stanford le Hope CC. In fact when Laura was bowling from the High Road end of the ground, Amy Squires was bowling from the Chafford end. This was the first time that two female cricketers had operated together for Belhus senior team. Squires has had a good record this year of taking vital wickets, but on this occasion had to be content with a two-over spell at a cost of just eight runs. Robert Long offered valuable support with 2-20 from eight overs, two of which were maidens. After the break, Belhus made quite a hash of things with Ruck, Randall and Knight back in the pavilion with only 12 runs on the board. Number four batsman Jim Banner continued his good run of form with the bat with 58 until he was ninth man out. At this stage Belhus were still 57 runs short of their target, but number eleven batsman Long hit his highest individual score of 26, until he was run out in the final over. For the visitors, Ranson took 3-24 from seven overs (two maidens), Paget claimed 3-26 from eight overs (two maidens), while there was a wicket each for Parkes, Colin Yeomans and Harrison. Yeomans, a physical education teacher at St. Clere's school, conceded just nine runs from his eight overs in a mean spell which yielded four maidens.
