Not for the first time this season, Belhus snatched victory when they looked dead and buried at North Stifford on Sunday.
Belhus induced a catastrophic collapse from 150-4 to 169 all out and it was Amy Squires who did much of the damage with 3-17 from four overs (one maiden). The Nazeing skipper, Peter James, had helped himself to a fine century, but Amy's fourth delivery of her first over saw the visiting centurion dismissed for 110, thanks to a catch by Max Scott at wide mid-on. Squires made further inroads by taking two further wickets, that of Finch caught by Connor Elliott without score, then Amy had Stevens caught by John Gray at slip to record a wicket maiden. With Cliff Cansdale (2-11) stemming the flow of runs at the other end, Mathew Lewis Snr came on to bowl and promptly clean bowled the visitors' number eleven, Tom Burns, to give Belhus a thrilling win by just six runs. Earlier, twelve year old Mathew Lewis junior hit a fine 46, Lewis Snr hit 32 and Jack Plane scored 29.
