Belhus stormed to a 173-run victory in the Essex Sunday League, thanks to a second consecutive century by Paul Bennett. He struck 135 bating at number three and his innings included eighteen fours and one six. Belhus opener Danny Norris hit 86 - nine fours and one six - as he put on 146 for the second wicket with the in-form Bennett. With Roy Heffernan chipping in with 32 not out, Belhus were able to close their 40-over allocation on a very healthy 295.

After the break, Old Boys' openers Sayers and Buckley scored 28 and 22 respectively, but then suffered a spectacular collapse from 103 for 4 to 122 all out. Spin bowler Michael Cansdale did the damage with six wickets for just 21 runs from six overs. Eight catches were taken by keen Belhus fielders, with a stumping thrown in by Michael Fogg for good measure. Providing good support with the ball were Bradley Walker, 2-35 and Ricki Ellis 2-25, both from seven overs.
