Belhus Cricket Club Lost by 2 runs
Match report
South Weald U13 67-6
Belhus U13B 65-8
This Monday evening twenty-20 format game at South Weald produced a thrilling finale as Belhus fell just two runs short as an exceptional bowling and fielding display from the home side proved to be a decisive factor in separating the two teams. Though Belhus too had worked hard in the field, as the hosts were restricted to 67. Lee Tricker took two wickets with the last two deliveries of his first over, bowling opener Hopegood then accepting a return catch from Oliver. Tricker nearly achieved a hat-trick as the ball dropped very close to him and the advancing mid-wicket fielder. Tricker settled for a fine two wickets for just two runs from a two-over spell. Middle order batsman Rueben Nithiananthan steadied the home ship with a patient eight runs. Tom Dreher, debutant Toby Reynolds, Macauley Joynes and Daniel Wakeling also took wickets, finishing with 1-3, 1-2, 1-2 and 1-4 respectively. Belhus required seven runs from the final over to win, but a tight final over from Nithiananthan conceded just four runs. The Belhus team was captained well by Elliott Playle.
